To the radiologist who made the gross over-call on chest CT:
Your statement that "there has been interval removal or distal migration of the IVC filter" was:
#1: Wrong. If you had looked at prior abdomen/pelvis CTs you would have realized that this chest CT ended prior to the level at which the filter could be seen. Even an intern could see this.
#2: Resulted in 2 unnecessary consults as well as unnecessary imaging for the patient. Speaking of which, shame on the hospitalists for not being able to read the CTs themselves. Repeat imaging showed the filter in the exact same place it has always been. Surprise, surprise.
